Complaint Details
Respected Sir/Ma'am,
I had purchased a Makita Brushcutter Model no. RBC412U, on 10/8/2015. Makita brush cutters, are some of the more expensive brush cutter available in market, looking at the brand and the reviews, I decided to buy the product. I bought it, for 27825 rupees from the sales rep. Sagar.
However, after assembling (attaching rod, handle, accelerator cable and Tap n Go) the machine as per the catalogue and hardly using it for 3-4 days, there was a petrol leak from the carburettor of the machine of the brush cutter. I informed Sagar about it, and he asked me to apply teflon tape on the wing bolt on the carburettor.
The two part plastic tap n go (with base and cover), which came with the machine, had an outer cover, the outer cover would fly off again and again, hindering the work and productivity. To which, Sagar could not provide any suitable solution. Eventually, the outer cover got lost as, it kept flying off the machine and couldn't be located under the grass, where it was hidden. Forcing me to buy a new one, worth 1450 rupees.
After repairing it, it again started giving problems. After which, Mr. Sagar, sent a fresh wing bolt free of cost. After installing (with instructions, that I install it with apple teflon tape) the fresh part, still the problem persisted. So, Sagar suggested, I replace the bell housing, so I procured a fresh bell housing and installed the same. After doing all this still the problems persisted. However, the cutting season had passed, so the machine couldn't be used anyway.
When, I pointed out, these repeated faults in the machine, sagar is asking to contact some local mechanic is Ratnagiri, which is some 90 kms away.
Again, in 2016, when I tried to use it, the leakage problem persisted. I again tried to apply teflon tape and make it work. I contacted Sagar, who said, I should send the machine back to him for repair. I had told Sagar, that there is categorically a problem with the carburettor, but Sagar suggested all unrelated repairs like clutch, engine and others, which I refused to get done and asked him to solve the problem of fuel leakage, which was persisted since the date of purchase. To which, Mr. Sagar replied, "if you're not doing the clutch repairs, I'm not going to rectify fuel leakage nor am I gonna return the machine back to you"
After waiting for 2 months, I contacted Customer care in Bangalore and spoke to Mr. Sadik. After the intervention of Mr. Sadik, Mr. Sagar called me, and continued his rant of clutch repair, engine repair etc. just to bill me unnecessarily.
He later agreed, to give me the machine. However, he said I will have to pick it up from Thane in person. He still persisted with Clutch repair and this and that. He even threatened me, that he will send my machine to bangalore for repair, all because I complained about his bad practices to Makita Customer care.
Further, this is my second machine. I had purchased another machine back in 2012, from Sagar. This one, I had to send him for repairs, and pay 2500 for the same. Which again stopped working within a day. This machine is also lying with him, with no chance of being returned.
How much is a brush cutter used in a year?
Just for about a week, to trim the grass after which its lying idle for 360 days in a year. Is the so called Makita quality, good enough only for 5 days? All along, I am being blamed for misusing the product. What can I misuse, a brush cutter for? The truth is Makita is selling cheap chinese make products under Makita brand name, and fooling and looting the buyers. I have a small property of 5.5 acres of land, for which one brush cutter is sufficient. Since, Makita's machine kept failing I had to buy another machine. As both machines failed, this year in October 2016, I had to buy a third machine, my third one being a Chinese made for 5500 rupees 43cc engine, similar to the Makita 412U.
What quality is Makita providing, if this is the state of affairs?
I request you to, see that justice is done and my money is returned for both the machines, I have bought from Sagar. This has truly been a disappointing, stressful and painful experience.
Pls find attached, two invoices of respective machines.
