Complaint Details
We purchased a saree (paithani) from Tathastu - considering it is one of the leading paithani shops in Pune. The purchase was done for Rs. 3,610 on 2nd April. The saree was left with the shop for applying fall, bidding etc and collected by us on 11th April.
When we opened the saree at home, we found that its width is not uniform across the length. For some portion of the length, the width was shorter by 4 inches than the normal width.
When we visited the shop on 12th April to exchange the defective saree, the shop people refused to exchange the saree on 2 counts - (a) the variable saree width is feature and (b) fall and bidding is done, so the saree cannot be taken back.
In my opinion, this is clearly defective saree because i spoke to few people and they have never used sarees with variable width. So, even if it is some innovative feature, it needs to be explained to buyer before purchasing.
If it is defective saree, seller cannot make profits under the pretext that buyer did not notice the defect at the time of sale.
Hence, filing this complaint. Let me know, if you need any additional details or documents. I would like to get replacement for the saree.
