This complaint is filed by the complainant under Section 12 of C.P Act of 1986 / 36(1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 requesting this Forum to direct the opposite party for the following reliefs:

 To Stop such practices of looting ignorant customers and impose the financial penalty as the law of land.
 To refund the excess amount collected from the complainant and compensation for the mental agony and trauma.




The brief facts of the complaint is that: On 5th July 2107, I had been to Coco’s Bar & Grill at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad for dinner. I was shocked to note that they have charged me Rs. 60 for the Kinley mineral water bottle as against the MRP of Rs. 20 and on top of Rs. 60, he charged 5% towards Service Charge, 9% towards SGST and 9% towards CGST. The total bottles procured by me was 3 and I ended up paying total Rs. 180 excluding GST and other charges were levied on this.
In regard to that I spoke to the Hotel Manager and conveyed that it's illegal as per Section 36(1 ) of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 / Section 12 of C.P Act of 1986 as he is charging more than MRP but surprisingly, the manager told me that the additional amount was for the services they provided by them. Also, he mentioned that they are one of premier restaurant and it is a usual practice. When I declined to pay the bill, he was not allowing me to leave the hotel hence I was forced to pay the entire bill amount. I am attaching the bill copy for your kind perusal and other details as follows:

Particulars of Goods & Services purchased: 3 nos of Kinley Mineral Water bottles (one liter each)
Amount paid for the above purpose: Rs. 180 (plus 5% towards Service Charge, 9% towards SGST and 9% towards CGST)
