Complaint Details
I, Baiju Velayudhan, a customer, visited Reliance Trends, newely opened kodungallur branch at Thrissur on 14/12/2017 with my family (reference tax invoice no.955510417500140) and made net purchases for Rs1853/- from this branch wherein I was charged Rs5/- for their advertised shopping bags though I didn't come to buy shopping bag.
As per the basic principles of retailing, they were not supposed to charge me for the shopping bag with their brand name advertised on it. They should have provided me cloth bag or paper bag instead of charging me for their advertised plastic carry bag if they want to discourage plastic. Even a fish vendor on the road gives me a kit free of cost for buying his fish. So, the intention of every retailer should be to confirm that they retain customer base while comforting them to carry their purchased stuffs home in a carry bag with pride and safety.
I hope the message is clear and they give shopping bag free of cost as it is the right and privilege of the customer to pay for only what they have purchased and carry them safely to their place of destination. Why did they charge me for a carry bag when it was not a product displayed for sale? It results in indirect sale for the shop and unintended purchase for the customers. This is serious issue and should be stopped immediately. Kindly look into the matter and do the needful while providing me the refund for the same.
