Dear Sir / Madam,

I wish to bring to your notice, that I had booked 4 confirmed air tickets on Spicejet from Mumbai to Mangalore (SG478) back on 1st August 2017 for their flight on 24th December 2017. The tickets were for my senior citizen parents, my wife and myself for a holiday to Mangalore and Coorg. All hotel bookings and return air tickets on Air India were booked and confirmed. The reason why the air tickets and the hotels were booked 4-5 months in advance was to avoid higher fares or rates during the December holiday season.

Spicejet cancelled our flight SG479 on 24th December 2017 barely 4 hours (call came around 4 am) before departure (time of the flight was 8.50 am). That meant that I had to look for earliest available flight tickets to reach Mangalore, otherwise all our hotel bookings would have been cancelled and so would be our return air tickets for no show and we would have not got any money back in return, let alone the loss of a holiday trip. Spicejet did not even bother to offer us an alternate flight on that day. Fortunately, I managed to book an evening flight on jet Airways (9W447) paying more than double the air ticket amount I paid on Spicejet, by booking 4-5 months in advance. When I complained to Spicejet, all that they offered was a refund of the ticket prices and a mere ₹1000 voucher per person on their flights for their last minute cancellation of their flight to Mangalore. Further, my old parents and my family had to undergo anxiety and trauma until the Jet Airways ticket was finally booked and confirmed. We also lost our half day vacation and site seeing on the first day of our stay in Mangalore.

I have written thrice to the CEO of Spicejet Mr. Ajay Singh for assistance but he has not yet responded.

I am attaching the SpiceJet ticket which has our Air India return ticket booked with MakeMyTrip as well as our Jet Airways ticket, also booked with MakeMyTrip. I request you to please look into this issue. We want full compensation from Spicejet. I will be glad to provide you with any other information, if needed.
