Complaint Details
Hello,

I received an email [attachment 1] from BookMyShow on June 8, 2018 that due to my "Superstar" status on their website, I was being specially informed of early access to the Aladdin show. Later that night, I booked 4 tickets of the show dated July 7, 2018 for Rs. 5745.60.

Early next morning, I received another email [attachment 2] from BookMyShow stating that bookings were now open for the Aladdin show, and there was a special 15% discount available along with it.

I felt cheated because at first I am told that due to my "Superstar" status, I am being specially informed of a pre-sale to the show. And less than 12 hours after I purchased the tickets, they tell me that a 15% discount was now available.

As I was upset, I wrote to the customer service stating that I would like to cancel the tickets. A response from the BookMyShow customer care executive says that cancellation or refunds are not possible [attachment 3, page 1], and that I could share the tickets with my family or friends.

The reason for cancellation was the double standards played by BookMyShow, by first giving me privilege status, and then reducing the price of tickets within hours of my purchasing them.

Further, there was no upfront mention of the non-cancellation or non-refund of tickets, or any other terms and conditions at the time of making the booking [attachment 3, page 2].

Request your help in kindly addressing the issue at large where businesses do not clearly state cancellation terms upfront, or they mention it as fine print somewhere hidden on their website. Further, when the show is over 1 month later, I don't understand why a customer should not be able to cancel the tickets after paying a reasonable cancellation charges.

Their should be a fair policy for cancellation in case of unavoidable circumstances at the customer's end so they do not lose their entire money just because the business does not want to take the extra effort of coordinating with the organizer of the show to arrange for a cancellation.

Looking forward to a fair resolution.

Regards,
Shaurya Malhotra
