Complaint Details
Hi Ford India/Harpreet Ford
In my last attempt to remind you of your commitment of providing service to your customers and not misleading them with false information - I would again like to bring to your notice the agony of a customer who has been waiting for the delivery of a booked car for the last 7 months. The car in question a - Ford Ecosport was booked at Harpreet Ford, MG Road, Gurgaon on 6th July, 2013 (Model - Ambiente, petrol) Booking receipt No. 523 and an amount of Rs.50,000/- via cheque number 2782213 dated – 06/07/2013 . I have experienced nothing but mental harassment and inconvenience at the hand of the dealership and its staff in addition to a long wait for the delivery of the vehicle that is now not possible this year.
I would like to reiterate the sequence of events that have taken place till now causing mental harassment and agony as well as inconvenience since 30th October 2013 – which is when the formal communication for follow up has happened via this mail chain.
The car delivery was promised to me within 5 months on 7th July 2013 by the dealer and hence I went ahead and sold my existing car and now the dealer is refusing to fulfill his promise till year 2015 which is confirmed as per the latest update from Mr.Sunil Tandon. I am facing a lot of issue travelling since then as I stay in Gurgaon outskirts where public transport is in its nascent stage and very costly. To get rid of the inconvenience I have been following up with the dealership since Aug 2013 to get the delivery date but my phone calls have went unanswered most of the time and the staff used to speak rudely when I used to visit the dealership(specially would like to quote Mr.Dinesh Gaurav’s statement – “We cant keep answering customer calls and give information regarding delivery dates. We have so many other tasks to do”).
Ignoring the plight and the rude behavior I kept following up with umpteen calls and visits. This included a couple of calls and discussions with Presidents’ Desk assistant Mr.Vadivel who gave a tentative date of delivery by end of year 2013 or Jan 2014 owing the delay to manufacturing delays.
However it came as a rude shock today when I was told that I will not get my car before year 2015.It has been the end of my patience as I am aware of certain people owning the same model who have owned it by Dec’2013 and have already sold the car as well owing to its not fulfilling the expectations. This is ridiculous as the dealership and Ford India have been informing me till now that the same model has not been manufactured leave alone the delivery part. Apart from getting to know that the cost of the car has been increased by approx. Rs.70,000/- (From 6,23,837 to 7,05,138 effective 02 Jan 2014) I have also come across people in Delhi who are openly asking for an amount anywhere between Rs.80,000/- to 100,00/- to ensure the delivery of the car by tomorrow.
I can provide you the contact details of the involved parties as I have proof of the same, if need be. It is simply indicating that there have been malpractices involved in delivery of the vehicle in question. I am a simple middle class man in a private job and shelling out an amount of Rs.50,000/- for car booking was itself an overhead and was going to own this car with the help of a loan from bank. So giving another Rs.100,000/- additionally to get the car apart from its cost is not possible.
I have already spent a lot of time, calls costing me a lot and of course a lot of energy in doing the follow ups and now this truth of delivery malpractice has caused a lot of disappointment to me. I am tired of running behind the staff and really feeling harassed at the hand of the dealership who are paying no heed to the inconvenience caused. I am now feeling cheated and nowhere to go as I can’t afford to wait for the delivery for a year so will have to think of some other option though my booking amount is stuck with the dealership for the last seven months.
There has been no satisfactory response from the dealership or Ford India to address my grievance rather I have been given false information regarding manufacturing issues and pressure to buy the next model which is out of my budget. To my surprise when I decided to go for the next model , the company stopped manufacturing that as well as informed by the dealership and now I am being asked to wait till year 2015.
I am feeling disappointed and cheated and have decided to lodge a complaint to consumer court for the mental harassment and deficiency in service as well as malpractices in delivery of the vehicle. All this is in addition to no formal communication from dealer or Ford India to the customers who have booked the cars about the price increase and delay in delivery and not responding on consumer calls for information.
Please consider this as my notice before I move ahead with the consumer court to take notice of this issue.
