I had a postpaid plan for broadband internet with Tikona, my user id being 1102337807. Due to shifting residence I wanted to discontinue there service. My plan cycle was getting over on 14.11.13 so I called up Tikona Customer care on 11.11.13 requesting them to discontinue my connection on which their operator told me that I have already paid upto 14th so need to disconnect now and to call on 14.11.13. I thought maybe their plan cycle runs such a way that they take payment 15 days before cycle termination and when Tikona operator herself is saying then how will I doubt. Still worried I sent them an email on 13.11.13 to discontinue my connection. There operators tried to avoid discontinuation but I did not want to continue. From then everyday there operator called me telling that they have received my discontinuation order and I don't have to make any further payment. Then suddenely from December onwards I started receiving phone calls & emails asking me to pay my bill. I wouldn't mind this though I did not believed them first. But when they asked me for bill upto 24.11.13 I was very much upset with them for trying to earn money from me wrongly. So I refused to pay till I get proper bill, i.e. till 11.11.13. The first time I requested them for discontinuation. Today they did some unethical act. They made a call from landline in Delhi, landline number +091 11 48484650, one Mr. Pankaj Rajput called me saying he is an Advocate and there is a complain filed against me by Tikona for non payment of bill at Tis Hazari Court from where he is talking. The case is coming up for hearing and if I pay up 2497, my dues as per Tikona alongwith penalty of 1399. He gave me half an hour for payment and asked me to call back on 8826693295. Worried about the consequences, and as recently I had lost my job and did not want to have any more trouble, I called up Tikona Customer Care. One Mr. Vidyut Modak spoke to me and said there indeed a case put up against me. I asked him how much I have to pay. He said 1097.00 (what they claim), according to me it should be around 600. I said to Vidyut Modak that it was in a very bad taste. I never expected Tikona Representative to say this. I paid the amount to avoid any trouble and called up Pankaj Rajput to tell that I paid. But he insisted that I should pay full 2497.00 otherwise my case will go for hearing and I may be summoned. He gave phone to Ms. Sarita Jaiswal who also said the same. So I paid up the remaining 1399.00 and then called up Mr. Vidyut Modak (Customer Care person) to tell him that I was threatened to pay 2497.00 on which he said I should not have paid extra amount, how can he say this when he knows their trick? When he knows I was worried how would I not have paid? For him it was a trick but for me it was a genuine case. He told me to go to my bank and stop transmission of additional amount paid by me. I did go but there is no such facility for online payment. When I told him again, he said that I will have to wait for 1 month and then Tikona will send back my cheque to my residence in Dombivli where I don't stay anymore. My grievance is, do these service operators reduce bill if there is a breakdown? They do not even adhere to their promises. If I am not a customer, can they fleece me this way? They have money power and they can do anything. Is it not a mental harassment to do the ugly trick that they did on me? Someone would have died of heart attack after receiving such a call. Are they allowed to do that? If they delay within there corporate office in disconnecting my line why should I pay the extra amount? They should have not charged after 11.11.13, the first time I asked for disconnection. Please help so others can benefit and I get my refund promptly and Tikona realises that it is not ethical what they are doing. I need fund urgently as I am jobless and these small money also can help me till I get a new job. Thank you so much.
