I had received a message from HATHWAY on 15th August 2013 saying that there was an independence day offer on account no. 29116 which gives me 2months of free service after I pay for 6months. One Mr. Rahul alongwith his contact no. was mentioned in the message. Account no. 29116 belonged to my other address. I asked Mr. Rahul to give the offer on my existing connection 291167. However he said that the offer was only on 29116. Few minutes later he called back to say that he would transfer the connection no. 29116 to my current address and disconnect 291167. I agreed to his offer following which he sent a guy to collect the payment money for 6months +2months free for 5mbps (25gb) connection. Few days later after I called him he confirmed that 29116 was now active and 291167 was deactivated. However I continued to receive messages for paying up for 291167. On reconfirming with Mr. Rahul, he said that I can ignore the messages. However, my connection got suddenly disconnected in October 2013. Thats when I realised that the account I had been using is 291167. To activate 29116 I needed a separate modem from the company which was apparently never been given. I was made to pay for 291167 after giving assurance by the Kandivali office staff that I would get full service of 6+2 on 29116 starting October 2013. So essentially my connection had to last till June 14. However, on contacting the call centre I was always told that the connection is only valid till Feb 14, when I told them about the offer and everything they would say that if I had been given the offer it would automatically get activated at the end of 6months and wont show in their system till that time.
Starting Feb 14 I started receiving messages and calls of disconnection if I didnt pay till 15th Feb 14. On contacting the call centre I was told that there was no such offer called Independence day offer. After registering the complaint I was told that I would be contacted by a company person. However when I called next day to recheck my complaint status I found out that my complaint was marked solved. On contacting this Mr. Rahul he assured me that I need not worry and need not pay. I would get my full 8 months of 5mbps connection with 25gb effective October 2013. But my connection got disconnected on 15th Feb 14 and the mobile no. of Mr. Rahul got disconnected as well.
I approached the Kandivali office and narrated the entire story. Following this one Mr. Mahesh agreed to restore my connection. The connection got restored but not to the fullest. I realised this while browsing. On contacting the call centre I was told that I have a 1mbps trial pack activated valid till 5th March 2014.
This is a clear case of Fraud by the company and not just an individual. The message I had received was from Hathway. Every employee who picked up the helpline no. claimed that if the offer was there I would receive the offer. If this Mr. Rahul was the only person doing it then none of the other employees would have tried to cover it up. I may not be the only person facing this problem, many others would have just let it go. And they did it all in the name of Independence.
