Complaint Details
I had purchased a sofa for INR 50000, on 25th April, 2013, at an exhibition in Bandra, Mumbai.

At the time of purchase, the seller assumed complete responsibility to deliver the sofa set to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and charged me for the transportation in advance. When the sofa reached Shimla, the delivery person refused to bring it to the house unless he was paid an additional INR 1000 as he claimed he was not paid by the sofa company. After paying him the additional delivery cost, once the sofa reached my parents house in Shimla, it was torn from all the sides. We clicked pictures immediately.

At that time I was in touch with a Lawyer, who is my friend, but unfortunately for me, is in America at the moment. When the lawyer spoke to the owner (Hitesh), he agreed to pay for the damages and send extra leather to Shimla to repair the sofa. But then after my friend left, he started avoiding my calls and has not responded till now. He did reply to one of the messages about 2 months ago, saying that he has closed down the company and that there is nothing that can be done.

Not only this, at the time of purchase, I had strictly instructed that the sofa should be as comfortable as possible hence, kindly use all foam for material. But they made the sofa out of 75-80% choir which is very hard, uncomfortable and usually cheaper than foam sofas. It was the 1st time I was buying a sofa so he said that since it is hand made, it will take 5-6 months to get comfortable.

Now I am left with a very uncomfortable sofa that is torn from all sides. I had sent it to my parents for the holiday home they are building and have spent all their savings on it. We cannot use a damaged sofa for the holiday home. I am attaching all the proof for your kind attention. I am in dire need of your assistance as I do not want such business owners to get away from cheating their customers.
