Dear Sir/Madam,
I want to register a complain 'bout my Builder LODHA who has imposed a MVAT of 5% on the agreement value of my flat. I've already made the payment to aoid any late payment fee. The Builder claims that he has already deposited the Tax with the Sales tax department. After reading the article (14Sep2012 and 15Sep2012) in Times of India I came to know that the demand made my the builder was illegal since there's yet to get a confirmation on the actual MVAT percentage. Now the Builder has revised the MVAT and imposed 3.82% saying the remaining excess amount paid by me will be refunded but without Interest. when I argued with the Builder 'bout the MVAT percentage, they say that it varies from project to project. I doubt that.Could you please help me and suggest me a way to handle it?
