Complaint Details
I got into the trap on 10th December 2012. The sales exective on a tele-call from Indian Health organisation (Himanshu Desai-01409802601) told me that with IHO card I can get 50% concession on any kind of hospitalisation/medical expenses without any limitation of minimum hours for hospitalisatio. He even said that I will get vouchers for pathology/radiology etc worth Rs. 60,000. All this in Rs. 5,000 for 4 persons in family. He said that every hospital in main cities is registered with them. I asked him particularly about maternity/delivery cases whether the 50% concession will be applicable and he said yes all kinds of hospitalisation were included. I told him I need more time to decide, then he said this is a city wide campaign and it will close that day. Based on the huge concession on every hospitalisation in every hospital, I made the payment of Rs. 5000 via credit card on phone but through IVR (he was asking me CVV no. but I didnt reveal).

Then the story changed when i got a verification call within 2 min. The lady informed that there is 50% discount for IPD and upto 20% discount on OPD which I didnt understand. IPD includes only consultancy and all other treatments are OPD which means only 20% discount on any hospitalisation expense. I immediately refused to process the application further to which she said i can cancel it later and get the refund after receiving the kit within 14 days.

After that call I was dumbstruck that such fraud has happened with me as it was a matter of Rs. 5000. For 2 days I was not able to concentrate on my business and then on 12th December 2012 I called up on Delhi number which Himanshu Desai (Sales executive) gave to me as pesronal cabin no. (01142709047) but he was never available on the floor and the executives said that they will arrange a call back which never happened. I then cancelled my application by calling on customer care (18001034466) on 12th December itself but they didnt have my data in their database and asked me to cancel it when I get a welcome call from them. On that call I came to know that they have a panel of selected hospitals only where we get these benefits and to my surprise there were very few stand alone clinincs in Surat which were not very popular in the locality against their claims of partnering with every hospital. Then I got the welcome call on same day and rejected the processing of the plan. The lady tried to convince me a lot with the other benefits but i didnt agree as they were of no use to me. I bought it to cover hospitalisation expense in my choice of hospital.

On 14th December, I got a call from a lady who inquired about the reason for my cancellation, I explained how there sales executive presented all the false claims about 50% concession on any treatment and every hospital being a part of IHO.
She tried to convinvce for the other benefits but i refused as they were of no use to me. She finally said that my policy cannot be cancelled as i have agreed to the verification call after the sales call (which was after the payment). I inquired why they have kept 14 days refund policy and she told that the service cannot be cancelled as it can be done only if they dont provide "word-to-word" service as claimed. I replied that the executive's claims were false and I was not getting their "word-to-word" service. She didnt agree to cancell the service but rather only agreed to a partial refund of Rs. 1500.She said the services will continue as they are but i cannot get full refund of Rs. 5000.

In short they have taken the money with false claims and have not agreed to refund back. I am not sure about receiving the partial refund of Rs. 1500 also as per other vicitm's reviews on consumer forum websites. As per online reviews, many other innocent middle class people have been misguided by false claims and assured of great service but given nothing. We cannot follow up from them as we dont have any direct number for our grievances.

Kindly help me and many others in getting the hard earned money back from this fraud entity and stop this fraudelent activity.
