Complaint Details
I was travelling from New Delhi to Agra on the eve of March 27, 2013 using the said bus service. Being the Holi eve, they were charging quite a high amount for the small distance, but since I could not find another option, I had to go ahead with it. I had booked the ticket on redbus.in, where it was mentioned that the bus is an AC Seater (2+2) service. Time of 8.30 pm at Ramakrishna Metro Station in Delhi. I received a call from the bus operator that the bus would depart at 9 pm from Vaishali, since there was some issue at the original spot due to Holi. This reduced the distance to Agra drastically, but that was still fine. So I reached at 9, only to find people waiting and the bus had not come. They had three buses on the same route - one Volvo, one non-AC sitting + sleeper and one AC sitting + sleeper. None was an AC 2+2 sitting, so the bus for my ticket wasn't even there. Anyhow, after a lot of confusion with about a hundred people jostling for seats in the three buses, they gave me a seat in the Volvo. The timing of the bus was supposed to be 8.30. It ended up going only at 12 pm with a lot of passengers making hue and cry. That was supposedly due to some tax issue which they wanted to save. That is fine, but then why call us at 9 and make us wait for 3 hours. Eventually, the bus moved. I was told to tell the bus conductor to drop me off at Agra, since the bus was to go to Lucknow. I told the bus conductor when the bus started moving at 12. At about 2.40 pm, I checked my map and realised that the bus had moved ahead from Agra. They hadn't even gone to the place where they were to drop me. I immediately asked the bus conductor, who had forgotten about it. He asked me to get down there itself. It was a barren highway and I didn't know the place anyhow. And they had charged me 950 Rs. just from Delhi to Agra and were not even dropping me at the right spot. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the bus conductor began behaving badly and I also got angry. Eventually, the bus driver, who was willing to go back, went back some distance, but the bus conductor kept insisting that I be dropped there itself 15 kms away from Agra on the highway at 3 at night with no idea about how to reach the Idgah bus stand, where I had to catch another bus to Gwalior at 4. Eventually, the bus conductor, helped by one of the passengers, who was getting irritated by all this, caught hold off me and threw me off the bus and went off. Have a sincere request that such a bus service, where all they can do is overcharge hapless customers, then show no respect for their time and money and not even drop them to their destination, should be penalised appropriately so that other bus operators take note and passengers don't have to face all this after paying so much money.
