Hi,
I had booked Ladakh trip with Yatra on 2nd of May, 2013 for 2nd June, 2013. My Booking ID is SR298721. I made advance payment of Rs. 15000 on that day itself as told by Yatra representative (Prince Kumar). Total cost of the package was 49500 rupees for 2 persons. When I inquired that when will I have to make the remaining payment, he said Yatra will get back to me around 10-15 days before the trip and at that time I will get the receipt and other details. After that I kept waiting for call from Yatra but I never got one. Finally, I made call to Yatra on 25/05/2013 and asked about the trip. The same representative told me he is surprised to know that and he would inquire and get back to me. After few hours he made a call to me saying that the hotels are under renovation and the trip needs to be cancelled. He said that he is trying and will try whatever is possible from his end to see that the my trip doesn't get cancelled. He told me that he is going to come for me on Sunday and see what can he do about it. He calls me on Sunday saying he tried everything possible and the trip cannot happen. He suggested me two options, 1) I can go for an alternate package (which was costing approximately 20000 rupees more than the package I had booked) or I can take my refund back. (The package was costing more because the travel dates were near.) I had budget constraint and I declined the trip option and opted for refund.
I inquired with the hotel which they had mentioned in itinerary and found that the hotel was not under renovation. I feel that the even after early payment the package was not booked or sold later on at high price to some other customer. Now its more than 2 months now I am still waiting for the refund. I have called more than 15 times with no success. I am given either of these answers. 1. We will call you back in the evening with details (and I never get a call) or 2. Your refund will be processed in 10-15 days. I am literally fed up following up with Yatra about my refund.
Now, I wish to get compensated for following:
1. Extra bucks I had to pay for the package I booked after this incident. If I would have booked package 1 month back I would had to pay less as compared to booking made 5-6 days prior to travel.
2. Energy lost behind following up with Yatra team. It's literally tiresome.
3. Interest that I could have earned over this money which Yatra is earning right now from my money.
I also went through the complains against Yatra and felt like it's their strategy. Earn more by modifying the trip or earn interest over the money provided by the customer by not returning them in timely manner.
