Complaint Details
A couple of my friends and I went for the movie, Madras Cafe on 30th
August 2013 for 9.30PM show.

Due to the rush, I booked online. Here are the details:
Booking ID: INBC0000193457
TPIN: 1873
Seat Nos: I9, I10 & I11

I went to the kiosk to pick up the tickets, a kiosk guy was helping out
everybody with tickets and he did so for me too. I picked up my tickets
and waited for my friends to turn up before we headed in. They showed up
and we tried to walk in when these folks started cheating us.

It turns out I was having a single ticket (since the machine produces a
stub with three pieces for every seat). The machine did not spit out two
more tickets and hence, I was stuck with one. They refused to let us in
and we explained the situation.

We called the manager and with the remaining one ticket, one of us walked into the theater to
check if somebody else was in our seat (incase I missed the tickets and
somebody stole it), but it was empty. So I showed him the email
indicating a confirmation of my tickets (with seat numbers) and asked
him for a duplicate, but the man blatantly refused to give me a copy
citing company policy.

My first question to Inox is, which loser set this BS rule do you have
that does not allow making photocopies of tickets. Do you realize how
stupid that sounds? Do you realize how customer unfriendly this is? It
is soo dumb that I want to repeat it, YOU CAN"T MAKE PHOTOCOPIES OF
TICKETS EVEN FOR LEGITIMATE REASONS????

The duty manager said, if you do not have that piece of paper (of which
he couldn't make copies due to some accounting and distribution issues) I
will not give you another copy and I will not let you in. HOW CAN YOU
NOT TRUST YOUR OWN EMAIL CONFIRMING MY TICKETS, SHOW TIMINGS AND SEAT
NUMBERS THAT YOU DO NOT PRODUCE ANOTHER COPY!!!

We had to buy a couple more tickets and then walk in. We sat at I9, I10
and I11 and clearly nobody had stolen our tickets. IF YOU CANNOT HELP
YOUR CUSTOMERS, THEN YOU DO NOT DESERVE CUSTOMER LOYALTY.

Inox movies responded a couple of weeks later stating the tickets were taken by somebody behind me and I left the tickets at the kiosk. They claim to have checked the surveillance cameras. Irrespective of that, they didn't use the tickets. And I had INOX's email and SMS confirmation that I have booked the tickets. Yet, they did not let me in. INOX cannot hinge on a policy of a single piece of badly printed paper to enforce entrance to cinema halls. Infact, they blame the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce for defending this policy. Inox has not given me a satisfactory answer on this issue as to why they cannot give me a duplicate copy of my ticket.

This is not a fair business practice, Inox knows this. Despite that, they continue this policy. I would like to raise this issue to the highest authority within the Department of Consumer Affairs to resolve this.

Inox has some British-era rules about customer rights and they are not
worth the exorbitant prices that we pay.

Inox has cheated me for the price of two tickets (Rs. 554) and I want
that back.
