Complaint Details
My Tatasky Subscription ID 1090555788. The Company has charged me Rs. 520/- (Rs. 350/- for replacement box and Rs. 170/- service charge) for a defective set top box supplied to me in the very first year. I have made repeated complaints about the set top box not reading the company card. Everytime the mechanic came and made few attempts to push it in the slot; it worked after a few attempts. The complaint persisted. Day-before-yesterday, the mechanic from the company came and replaced the box and said that service and replacement charges will not be levied. However, the billing person levied the charge.
My grievance is that the Company cannot demand charges for a defective set top box ab initio. Secondly, the Company cannot make a distinction between subscription and set top box since subscription service will not materialize without the set top box in order. The Company cannot treat the ab initio defective set top box as a separate product from the subscription service. The mechanic also accepted my contention. However, the charge has been laid surreptitiously behind my back. The charge should be withdrawn; the Company should not persist in imposing an unfair and unethical business practice.
