Complaint Details
Hi,

I had taken a personal loan from HDFC bank in 2011. The EMI gets cleared from my IDBI account on 7th of every month. On 3rd April 2015, I transferred my EMI from my HDFC account to IDBI account as usual, well in advance. On 8th April 2015, I get an SMS from HDFC bank saying the funds transfer that I initiated on the 3rd of April had failed. I immediately transferred the same amount to the exact account again on 8th & the amount got credited successfully. Now HDFC is following up with me to pay my ECS bounce charges on the personal loan EMI. I have already requested them to give me the contact details of the HDFC T.Nagar branch manager with whom I am supposed to talk. The representatives refuse to do so. I am expected to go to the T. Nagar branch on a weekday & meet the manager in person it seems. Now, if I have to incur a loss of pay at work & travel all the way from Nanganallur to T. Nagar (about 10 Km) for the bounce charges of Rs. 652/-, I might as well pay it. The bank is ready to send a representative to collect the bounce charges. But my point of contention is why should I pay a penalty when I am not at fault. I did my transfer as usual on the 3rd of April (4 days before my actual ECS debit date). If I had received a notification that the transfer failed at least before 7th, I would have re-tried the transfer. But it is really unfair that the bank sent me the failure notice after 5 days & now expects me to pay up the bounce charges. Now the bank is threatening me with a bad CIBIL report. Need advice. Attached my transaction statment

3rd April Txn ID - 509311180279 (returned on 8th)

8th April Txn ID - 509821199897 (this was successful)
