Complaint Details
I, TAN OON TIONG(Malaysia PP No. A34475261) & my daughter, TAN SZE MUN(PP No.A25872742) who is currently pursue her 1st year study at USM-KLE Medical University in JNMC Campus of Belgaum, had purchased SpiceJet’s scheduled confirmed flight no.SG3310 from Belgaum to Bengalore on the above said date and booked under Confirmation no.(PNR) H8UJRG and T9V3HT respectively.
I was in Belgaum to accompany her back to Malaysia after her Final Semester Exam on 26th June 2015 but experienced such an unbelievable incident of Boarding denial at the Belgaum Airport with less than 2 hours before the actual Departure time of 7.40pm.
We would point out that the said Flight was confirmed and Flight Status stated as normal & as per scheduled, we checked-in through their Official Web Site and even had the Boarding Pass printed a day before the actual departure date, i.e. 7.40pm on 26 June 2015 together with our Air Asia connecting flight from Bengalore to Kuala Lumpur at 11.25pm of India local time. But shockingly SpiceJet just announced cancelled the said Flight out of nowhere by sending a SMS to us at India local time 6.00pm with an unacceptable, unjustified and irrational excuse of Operational reason, at time we were already outside Belgaum Airport Departure Hall from KLE, JNMC Campus. Note that SpiceJet is still unable to reveal the actual reason of cancellation and failed to furnish us the India Airport Authority’s certification for the cause of its cancellation
With less than 2 hours of short & shocked cancellation notice, our boarding were denied and we were unable to do anything on our Air Asia Connecting Flight from Bengalore to Kuala Lumpur, worse they did not provide any immediate alternative flight and neither there were other alternative transit or transportation to get to Bengalore International Airport in such a short time, further more our connecting AirAsia flight AK52 was flying on normal status. SpiceJet’s such extra-ordinary act has resulted in our miss connection flight to Kuala Lumpur, caused substantial consequential loss and mess harassment to our travelling plan and expenses since the next onward Air Asia Flight was only available on Sunday, 28 June 2015.
We were informed to find out the details and contact their Customer Relation Officer via their Call Centre and to get a replacement flight booking within 7 days. We finally took the replaced flight on 28th June 2015(Morning Flight SG3304 to avoid another possible cancellation by SpiceJet) after confirmed our connecting AirAsia Flight to Kuala Lumpur on 28/6/15 evening(11.25pm India Local Time)
In view of the circumstances, we would like to claim for the consequential loss and necessarily travelled expenses incurred which was caused by SpiceJet’s said Flight cancellation as below append :-
A. Next Onward connecting flight from Bengalore to KL's
air ticket cost for two(2) INR 29,406
B. Transportation From Belgaum Airport on 26 June 2015 700
C. Transportation To Belgaum Airport on 28 June 2015 600
D. Meals, refreshments, accommodation, tele-communication
expenses for 2 days(26-28/6/15) for 2 persons(2,000/day/person) 8,000
TOTAL INR 38,706
All the related Travel Itinerary and E-tickets from SpiceJet and Air Asia, Booking details, check-in documents, Boarding Pass, Flight Status, your Cancellation Notice, Replaced Flight E-tickets and Itinerary are attached herewith as evidences and for your reference and perusal.
Despite our repeated requests for fair compensation and offer for amicable settlement beside the inconvenience, harassments and time wasting, they refused and rejected all gesture proposal and, but insisted to compensate INR3,000 per person for Transportation cost only.
We hereby seeking your good office and kind assistance to stand out for us for this unjust and unfair circumstances against such an irresponsible and unprofessional Airline operator.
