I had purchased an led TV model No:LW 6500 on 06/03/2012. Over the past few months the TV was giving problems of blacking out and non responsiveness and recently (on 15th of August) the TV got completely blacked out and does not start. On the same day I had lodged a complained and the LG engineer (Mr. Rajdeep Verma) had come on 17th to investigate the issue. After a few minutes of inspection, the engineer told me that the motherboard of the TV has conked off and needs to be replaced. He had also put an order for a motherboard after our discussion for a charge of Rs 5,500 inclusive of service charges.
A few days back I received a call from an LG representative stating that the motherboard is not available since it has been discontinued and your TV will be replaced with commercial settlement. I tried to enquire more about this commercial settlement and was told that there will be 35 percent of the price of the TV as a refund to which I am extremely shocked. I had spent a good fortune of my savings in buying this expensive TV and never expected such a short life or LG will leave me in such a horrifying situation.
If the motherboard is not available, it is not consumers fault. The responsibility lies with the company of making the TV in working condition or replace it. Why would anybody spend so much money on a TV which will last less than 4 years. Complaint Letter and invoice attached
