Iam a Doctor working as additional Professor Govt Medical college Tvm Kerala.
I bought a Sony Bravia Tv Model name KDL-40EX520 IN5 Serial no -2479341
It was working properly till 9th month from the date of purchase. After that a band(4cm width) appeared on the top of the screen throughout the screen width. I informed the shop and the service person came and asked to take TV to service centre.Since I was out of station and due to many personal mishaps,and the band was not increasing in size,I could not take the TV to service centre.
On 15th of this month the band widened and reached almost to middle of the screen and seen as double image.i took TV to service centre,registered there, job no J53013431.After two days they informed overphone that the panel is not available there, and I have to pay Rs 21000/- to buy that panel.
I was surprised by that it is better to buy a new Tv than repairing the display panel with Rs 21000/-
For a leading brand like sony I never expected this much of damage for a costly product. The other equally competent brands are giving a warranty of 3 years or more than that for costly products.
I feel very bad that this happened for a leading brand and a costly, latest product like LED Bravia TV.
I came to know that the authorised sony service centre- Madonna (Tvm) is planning to close the centre or going to wind up soon.That is why they are demanding a high repair fee from customers.
I hope a reasonable and favourable replay and action from your side for this request.
